Lions finish third at MHU Spring Invitational

FLETCHER, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's golf team placed third at the conclusion of the Mars Hill University Spring Invitational Tuesday afternoon. Janie Gooch was the top finisher for the Lions, placing sixth overall.
Gooch, who was tied for 14th after the first round, shot up the leaderboard with the second round's second best score of 77; a 13 stroke improvement from round one. Emilee Wenmoth slipped from sixth to eighth place and Marie Syvertsen rounded out the top 10. Jasmine Chesnut, with her 15 stroke improvement from Monday, jumped up to 17th overall.
The Lions shot a team score of 337 on Tuesday, the second best round of the day, two stroke higher than the winning Marian squad. Mars Hill's score was 23 strokes better than Monday's total.

Mars Hill will travel to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on Monday, March 5 to participate in the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational.
