Hokanson named SAC Offensive Player of the Week
Mars Hill's Olivia Hokanson earns the women's lacrosse program's first-ever South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor, scoring 10 goals in the final two games of the season.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Mars Hill attack Olivia Hokanson has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, and Queens defender Cammy Case has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played April 16-22, the League announced today.
Hokanson, a senior from Crofton, Md., scored 10 goals for 10 points in two games last week, including scoring seven goals against SAC foe Newberry. The win over Newberry marks the first-ever SAC women's lacrosse victory for the Lions, who are in their first season of competition. In addition to her 10 goals, Hokanson had 17 draw controls and two ground balls.
Case, a junior from Ellicott City, Md., was instrumental in helping the Royals defeat Wingate 11-2 last week. Thanks to Case's defensive leadership, the Royals held the Bulldogs scoreless in the second half of action. During the game, she caused two turnovers, had three draw controls and scooped up five ground balls. She now leads the SAC and is among the NCAA leaders in caused turnovers with 63.
This is the first Player of the Week selection for Hokanson this season, while this marks the third time that Case has earned Player of the Week honors.
