Mars Hill falls to LMU in SAC play
The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (3-6, 0-2 SAC) fell to Lincoln Memorial (7-2, 2-1 SAC) by a score of 19-3 on the road Wednesday afternoon.
HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (3-6, 0-2 SAC) fell to Lincoln Memorial (7-2, 2-1 SAC) by a score of 19-3 on the road Wednesday afternoon.
The Railsplitters jumped out to a 6-0 lead after 12:21 of play in the first half. Erin DePaul collected four points in the run (3g, 1a) while Jasmin Click added three (2g, 1a). The Lions scored two of the next three goals with the markers coming from Maria Fabrizio and Molly Tobias to cut the deficit to five.
Lincoln Memorial closed out the half by scoring seven straight goals. Kennedy Buechner netted two goals and added one assist in that span. Scoring the first three goals of the second half, Lincoln Memorial took a 15-goal lead. Buechner collected two more assists.
Fabrizio netted the final Lions' goal, her second of the contest, with under 10 minutes remaining before the Railsplitters tacked on two more goals in the final seven minutes of play.
DePaul (5g, 1a) and Buechner (3g, 3a) led all players with six points. Fabrizio (2g, 1a) factored in on all Mars Hill goals.
Micayla Starnes made six saves in the winning effort while Alexa Holleran allowed 14 goals on 18 shots.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, March 23rd when they take on Coker. Action is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
