Lions fall to Lee on the road

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (1-1) fell to Lee University (1-0) by a score of 20-10 Sunday afternoon on the road.
The Lions opened the contest with the first two goals of the afternoon from Tina Fabrizio and Alexa Tazzetta. Lee responded with six straight goals with Giselle Gonzalez recording three points (2g, 1a) during the stretch. Shayna Ryan netted two goals.
Molly Tobias interrupted Lee's run momentarily before another three goals were added on with Ryan completing hat-trick. Mars Hill clawed to within three as Kiersten Foust scored twice followed by Sydney Joyce to find themselves down 9-6 with 8:41 left in the first half.
The Flames led by four entering the second half, 11-7, and outscored Mars Hill 9-3 in the final 30 minutes of play. Lee scored six of the first seven goals of the frame, going up 17-8 with 14:28 remaining. Both Brittney White and Dariana Blanton scored two goals while White added an assist.
Foust scored two of the three Lions' goals in the half while Camryn Marcey netted her second of the season.
Jolee Davis led all players with six points (3g, 3a) while Ryan and White added five apiece (4g, 1a). Foust led the Lions with four goals while Tazzetta and Rebecca Dallman each added one goal and one assist. Maria Fabrizio collected two assists.
Mars Hill returns to action on Tuesday, February 11 when they take on Young Harris. The road competition is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
