WINGATE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (1-6, 0-5 SAC) was defeated 17-3 versus Wingate (5-2, 3-2 SAC) Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Bulldogs opened the contest on a 12-0 run as Leah Knowles recorded a hat-trick. Kendall Wells and Annie Plotts each scored twice while Kayleigh Hines picked up four assists in the run.
Kiersten Foust scored the Lions' first goal with 11:03 remaining in the first half. Alexa Tazzetta was credited with the assist.
The Lions struck twice in the second half as Tazzetta and Sydney Joyce netted the tallies.
Knowles (4g, 1a) and Paige Kramer (1g, 4a) led all players with five points. Tazzetta led the Lions with two points (1g, 1a).
Mars Hill returns to action on Sunday, March 28 when they face Coker on the road. Draw is set for 11 a.m.
