NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (3-10, 1-7 SAC) was defeated by Newberry (8-6, 6-2 SAC) by a score of 20-4 Saturday afternoon.
The Lions scored three in the first stanza as Samantha Newton netted two. Ashley Lindsay opened the scoring just 57 seconds into the contest.
Newberry held Mars Hill scoreless in the second and third quarters, outscoring them 13-0. In the final 15 minutes of play, the Lions allowed two while Lindsay scored her second of the contest.
Ella Todd (4g, 3a) and Cassell Richardson (5g, 2a) led all players with seven points. Both Newton and Lindsay (2g) ended the game with two points to lead the Lions.
Lauren Bryner made 11 saves.
Mars Hill closes out their home schedule on Saturday, April 13 when they host Anderson. First draw is set for 1 p.m.
