Women’s Soccer Suffers First Loss at Young Harris
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - Mars Hill's women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season on the road at Young Harris College Wednesday evening by a 1-0 margin. The Lions fell to 4-1-1 on the year while THC improved to 3-1 on the season.
Haley Holderfield scored at the 20:14 mark off an assist from Lauren Martin to notch what would later prove to be the match winner. THC outshot the Lions, 15-7. The Lions edged YHC in corner kicks, 2-1. YHC was called offsides twice while the Lions did not receive an offsides call.
Becca Sellars played all 90 minutes in goal for MHC and made nine saves. Kelsey Cunningham also played the entire match in goal for YHC and made five saves.
Mars Hill will host SAC rival Wingate University in their conference opener Saturday in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Match time is set for a 2 p.m. start.
