Watkins-Banks named SAC WSOC Player of Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - A pair of forwards have been named the SAC Soccer Players of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. Mars Hill freshman Catherine Watkins-Banks was selected as the Women's Player of the Week.

Watkins-Banks scored the game-winner in the 102nd minute of double overtime to lift Mars Hill to a 2-1 victory over Catawba. She also added an assist in the game's 30th minute.

On the season, Watkins-Banks has three goals -- all of which are game winners. She has helped Mars Hill to a 5-3-1 start. She is the first Mars Hill student-athlete to be named Women's Player of the Week in 2011.

Men's Player of the Week honors go to Anderson junior Lasse Sohrweide.
