Women’s Soccer Falls to LMU, 2-1
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions' women's soccer team lost to SAC foe Lincoln Memorial University, 2-1 Thursday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Lindsay Anderson scored both of the Railsplitters' goals. MHC fell to 6-10-1 on the season and 2-7 in the SAC. LMU improved to 8-7-2 on the year and 4-4-1 in the league.
Anderson scored the Railsplitters' first goal at the 37:47 mark on a cross from Rachel Vienneau. Anderson scored her second goal of the match at the 67:06 mark on a header off a cross from Sarah Taylor. Lindsey Ingwersen scored the Lions' goal at the 86:18 mark. The goal was unassisted.
LMU outshot the Lions, 11-3. The Railsplitters had seven more corner kicks (8-1) than MHC. The Lions were called off sides once. Chelsea Parker played all 90 minutes in goal for Mars Hill and made three saves. Kayla Hanson also played the entire match in the net for LMU.
The Lions will host Lees-McRae College on Saturday, October 29. Game time for Mars Hill's Senior Day match is set for 4:30 p.m.
