Lions Fall at Lander
GREENWOOD, S.C. - Mars Hill's women's soccer team lost on the road at Lander University, 4-0. The Lions fell to 3-2 on the season while Lander improved to 3-1-2 on the year.
Jamie Shaw scored an unassisted goal five minutes into the contest to give Lander a 1-0 advantage. That was all the scoring the first half would see.
Kimberly Kesler scored at the 53:34 mark from around 10 yards out. The goal was assisted by Hilary Ferguson. Nina Morales then scored in the 79th minute from five yards away. The goal was unassisted. Lindsey White added an insurance goal five minutes later (83:56) on a pass from Miranda Barker.
Lander outshot the Lions 20-1. Corner kicks were almost even with Lander holding a 4-3 edge. The Bearcats were called offsides five times. Tori Stajduhar played 70:53 in goal for the Lions and made six saves. Corrine Roberts played the final 19:07 in the net for MHC and made one save. Kelsey Blair played all 90 minutes in goal for Lander.
The Lions will host Lincoln Memorial in their SAC season opener
Friday night. The game is set to begin at 5 p.m.
