MARS HILL, N.C. – Newberry defeated Mars Hill 1-0 in women's soccer action in both teams South Atlantic Conference opener in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Lions fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the league. The Wolves improved to 2-0-1 on the season, 1-0 in conference play.
Sabrina Serafin put the Wolves on the board at the 27:55 mark off a cross from Breanna Naranjo. That would all the scoring the match would see.
Tori Stajduhar played the entire match in goal for Mars Hill and made 14 saves. Alexis Carrillo also played the entire match in the net for Newberry and made three saves.
Mars Hill will host Emmanuel on Tuesday, September 16. Match time is set to start at 7 p.m.
