GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Mars Hill lost to SAC rival Tusculum College 3-0 in women's soccer action Saturday at Pioneer Field. The Lions dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the league. The Pioneers improved to 4-1-1 on the season and 2-0 in the conference.
Katie Chadwick scored the first goal of the match in the 40th minute off a cross from Jordan Newby. The teams carried that score into the locker room at halftime.
Taylor Lewis found the back of the net from 33 yards out to put the Pioneers ahead 2-0 at the 45:19 mark. Payton DeHart added an insurance goal in the 87th minute off give and go from Newby.
Tusculum out shot MHU, 19-8. The Pioneers edged the Lions in corner kicks, 7-5. MHU was called offsides four times while Tusculum was called offsides once.
Tori Stajduhar played all 90 minutes in goal for MHU and made six saves. Marissa Williams also played the entire match in the net for the Pioneers and made four saves.
Mars Hill host Lincoln Memorial on September 24. Match time is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
