NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team was shutout 4-0 on the road against Newberry Saturday afternoon. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Danglemaier had six saves on 10 shots.
Newberry's Alyssa Ortega's hat-trick led the Wolves offense. She added an assist on the third Wolves' goal to give her seven points on the afternoon.
Ortega opened up the scoring in the 22' minute, booming a shot past Danglemaier from 13 yards out. She would strike again in the 25' minute with her second of the game. Ortega's final goal came in the second half with just over ten minutes remaining in the contest. It was her 10th of the season.
Morgan Powers scored the third Wolves' goal five minutes into the second half off of an assist from Ortega.
The Lions were outshot 22-5 in the contest and drop to 2-11-1 (1-8 SAC). They have lost their last six matches.
Newberry improves to 5-10 (2-7 SAC).
Mars Hill gets set to face Barton on Wednesday, October 25 at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
