ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-7-0, 0-3 SAC) were shutout, 6-0, on the road against Anderson (2-4-0, 2-0 SAC) Saturday evening.
The Trojans scored twice in the first half. Maggie Black would score the first of her two goals just over 18 minutes into the game. Just outside of the box, Black would arch it over Clare Witt to put the Trojans up 1-0 early. They added a second goal from three yards out with under six minutes remaining in the first half to double their lead.
In a span of 15:09 in the second half, Anderson scored four times. Just over 2:30 into the second half, Lexxi Longmore began the run for Anderson. In the 52nd minute, Black scored her second of the contest, once again from distance, finding its way under the crossbar and inside the far post to give the Trojans a 4-0 advantage.
Less than a minute later, Gabbie Fleming extended the lead to five and just over 10 minutes later, Madison Cutts scored the sixth Trojans tally.
Anderson outshot the Lions 22-9 and had 11 on target compared to Mars Hill's four.
Abby Helms stopped three shots in 67:21 of playing time while Madison Paige made a save on the final Mars Hill shot on goal on the night. Witt made five saves while playing all 90 minutes.
The Lions return to Meares Stadium on Saturday, September 29 when they take on Newberry at 1 p.m.
