MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's soccer team (2-9-0, 1-5 SAC) dropped an overtime thriller, 1-0, to Catawba (9-2-0, 4-2 SAC) Wednesday night inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
After a scoreless 90 minutes, Mars Hill and Catawba entered their second overtime games of the season, respectively. Less than a minute into the overtime period, Amber Hand scored the game-winning marker for the Indians.
Bailey Howell led all players with five attempted shots, three on net. Sanne Martinsen attempted four on the night.
Mars Hill goalkeeper Tonje Jorgensen made eight saves for the Lions while Shelby Thompson made two for the win.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, October 17 with a road contest against Carson-Newman. The contest is set for a 5 p.m. start.
