MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-6-1, 1-3-1 SAC) was shutout by a score of 5-0 versus Wingate (6-1-0, 4-0-0 SAC) Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs first struck two minutes into the game as Caroline Peters recorded her fourth goal of the season. In the 21st minute, Caitlyn Cox chipped home Wingate's second of the day. Taylor Krakower picked up assists on both goals. Chandler Hendrix, 10 minutes later off of a penalty kick, extended the Wingate lead.
Wingate added two more tallies in the final 45 minutes to pick up their sixth win of the contest.
Splitting time in net, Clare Witt made five two saves while Victoria Forren added one.
The Lions look to rebound when they host non-conference foe Shaw on Saturday, October 5. Kickoff is slated for a 1 p.m. start inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
