HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (2-9-1, 0-6 SAC) was defeated in double overtime Saturday evening by a score of 1-0 versus Coker (1-5-2, 1-5 SAC).
In the double overtime period, with just under six minutes to play, Dylan Winstead scored the game-winner, her first of the year, giving the Cobras their first win of the season.
The Cobras outshout the Lions in regulation 11-4 with Camryn Miller making four saves in the second half. Mars Hill had four opportunities in the first overtime period with Sarah Swaim making three saves.
Sanne Martinsen led all players with six shot attempts with three on goal. Bailey Whitehead-Price and Isabella Busenbark added one attempt apiece. Gabby Sturla led the Cobras with five shot attempts. Both Lexi Lilly and Mackenzie Hochreiter attempted three shots apiece.
Swaim earned the victory making three saves while Miller stopped six in the loss.
The Lions return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 13 when they host Lenoir-Rhyne inside Meares Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
