YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-0) defeated Young Harris (0-1) by a score of 1-0 in their season opener on the road.
The Lions' Carla Humera struck in the 34th minute to break the 0-0 deadlock. Her first of the year proved to be enough, marking back-to-back season opening 1-0 victories at the beginning of their campaign.
Young Harris outshot Mars Hill 17-13 with 11 shots on target, all stopped by Camryn Miller for her first shutout of the season. Francesca Graff led Mars Hill with three shots on target.
The Lions open their home slate on Sunday, September 8 when they host Barton. Kickoff inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
