Mars Hill falls to LMU

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-8-1, 0-5-1 SAC) hosted Lincoln Memorial (6-4-2, 4-2-2 SAC) at Meares Stadium in a competitive matchup that ended with Lincoln Memorial securing a 2-0 victory.

The first half saw Lincoln Memorial take control early, with Ryan Branson scoring the opening goal just 10 minutes in, putting the team ahead 1-0. Their aggressive approach resulted in a total of 27 shots, keeping Mars Hill's defense on high alert throughout the match.

Despite a few attempts to break through, Mars Hill's offense remained stifled, recording only three shots in total. In the final moments of the match, Victoria Filsner sealed the game for Lincoln Memorial with a late goal, extending the lead to 2-0.

Mars Hill's goalkeeper, Hanna Johnson, ended the game with nine saves, preventing several more goals from the relentless Lincoln Memorial attack. The team's best chance came from Carla Humera, who recorded the only shot on target in the first half.

The Lions host Emory & Henry on Wednesday, October 23. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. inside Meares Stadium.
