MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-12-1, 0-9-1 SAC) celebrated Senior Night with a thrilling contest against Coker (9-4-1, 5-4-2 SAC), but ultimately fell in a close 1-0 match.
In the 28th minute, Coker's Maya Clark found the back of the net, putting the Cobras up 1-0. Mars Hill's Samantha Swinson and Carla Humera each had shots on target earlier in the frame, but Coker's goalkeeper, Rhyan Parkin, was solid in goal, making key saves to deny Mars Hill an early advantage.
The second half turned physical, with both teams committing multiple fouls as Mars Hill fought to equalize. Mars Hill recorded five shots on goal in the second half, including close-range attempts by Swinson and Mia Calderon, but Parkin held her ground with eight saves in total. Mars Hill's Camryn Miller also had six saves.
Seniors Callie Swanger, Lauren Ford, Carla Humera, Kaidyn Stone, Ella Parton, Chloe Hails, and Camryn Miller were recognized and celebrated for their contributions to the program during halftime of the men's soccer game.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, November 6 when they host Limestone in their season finale. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m at Meares Stadium.
