Women’s Swimming Defeats King and Brenau
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's swimming team defeated King and Brenau at Harrell Pool. The Lions defeated King, 178-67, and Brenau, 181-55, to improve to 3-1 overall.
Nicole Day (Maggie Valley, N.C.) won four events and set two new school records. She won the 200 Yard Freestyle and the 50 Yard Freestyle. Day set a new mark in the 200 Yard Backstroke, and the relay team of Day, Lena Palo, Tiffany Golding (Dobson, N.C.) and Ashley Varga (Port Charlotte, Fla.) set a new school mark in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.
In addition to the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, Palo, from Lexington, S.C., won the 100 Yard Backstroke, 100 Yard Freestyle and 500 Yard Freestyle. Miranda Schmidt (Weaverville, N.C.) won two events in the 100 Yard Breaststroke and 200 Yard Individual Medley.
Katy Sorrells (Canton, N.C.) won the 200 Yard Fly. Megan Bartlett (Tallahassee, Fla.) won the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Nikki Holt (Kennesaw, Ga.) placed first in the 100 Yard Fly.
Mars Hill will swim at Milligan on Friday. The dual meet will begin at 6 p.m.
