Lions to Swim for Conference Championship
MARS HILL, N.C.-The Mars Hill women's swim team will compete in the Appalachian Swim Conference Championship Meet, which begins Thursday.
The Lions enter this weekend's championship with a 10-1 record in dual meets and have won ten straight dual meets. Mars Hill is 7-1 in dual meets against conference opponents this season, with the lone loss coming in the season-opener against Brenau. Last year, MHC placed fifth in the conference championship and broke one conference record. The championship meet will take place at the Stivers Aquatic Center on the campus of Union College in Barbourville, Ky. The meet runs Thursday through Saturday.
Mars Hill was picked to finish fifth in the ASC in the conference's preseason poll. Wheeling Jesuit swept the 2012 ASC Championship, winning both the men's and women's conference titles with a combined point total of 1201.5.
Nicole Day earned ASC Women's Swimmer of the Week for her performance in the Wingate Fall Frenzy Meet, which was held Nov. 16-18. Last season, Day set a conference record in the 200 Back at the ASC Championship.
Action gets underway Thursday evening with a 6:00 p.m. session. Preliminary action on Friday and Saturday begins at 9:30 a.m., with finals at 6:00 p.m. each day. Admission to each session is $8.00, while all-session passes are available for $40.00.

Appalachian Swim Conference Championship Information
The Appalachian Swim Conference consists of 14 schools, all of which will compete in the championship meet. The conference is made up of schools from North Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio and West Virginia.
