Two Lions Earn Academic All-Conference Recognition
MARS HILL, N.C.-- Two Mars Hill women's swimmers were recognized by the Applachian Swim Conference All-Academic Team, which was released Thursday.
Seniors Taylor Bugg and Miranda Schmidt each earned recognition. Bugg carries a 3.97 GPA as a Business Administration major. Schmidt is studying Zoology and carries a 3.50 GPA. Both swimmers were part of the 400 Medley Relay team that set a new school-record time at the ASC Championship Meet last weekend.
Bugg has been a key member of relay teams in her Lion career. In addition to being a member of the school-record holding 400 Medley Relay team, Bugg is also in the school record books with Mars Hill's best 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, and 800 Free Relay teams. Bugg competed individually in Free events this season.
Schmidt has also been a key swimmer in relay events over the course of her Lion career. In addition to helping the 400 Medley Relay team set a school-record, she is also a part of the school-record holding 200 Medley Relay team. Schmidt primarily swam IM and Back events this season.
Mars Hill concluded its season with a fifth-place finish at the Appalachian Swim Conference Championship Meet last weekend. The Lions went 10-1 in dual meets this season.
