LAURINBURG, N.C. - Mars Hill freshman Rachel Nichols has been named the Appalachian Swimming Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, league officials announced on Wednesday. It is the first weekly award of her career.

Nichols won the 50 butterfly (27.81), 100 butterfly (59.91) and swam a leg on MHU's winning 200 medley relay team. Her 100 butterfly time of 59.91 is the fastest in the conference so far this season. Nichols swam the butterfly portion of the 200 medley relay, finishing with a split time of 25.34.  

Mars Hill will swim in its final meet of the semester next weekend at the Igloo Invite on Friday and Saturday.
