Women's Tennis Defeats Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's tennis team defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 5-4 on Sunday. With the win, Mars Hill improves to 4-5 on the season and 2-2 in the South Atlantic Conference, while Lenoir-Rhyne drops to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the league.

Tatiana Dualiby and Lucy McLaurin each had two wins on the afternoon. Dualiby and McLauren teamed up at number one doubles to defeat Lacey Zapp and Zorica Djuric 8-3. Dualiby defeated Djuric 6-2, 7-5 to win number one singles, while McLaurin defeated Lela Sparks Thompson 7-5, 6-3 in number three singles.

Mars Hill won the top four singles flights. In addition to wins by Dualiby and McLaurin, Anna Rickenbaker won number two singles 6-4, 6-3 over Nateesha Hurtt 6-4, 6-3. Jade Henke clinched the win for Mars Hill with a 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 victory in number four singles.

The Lions return to action on Friday at Coker.
