Women's Tennis Defeats Carson-Newman

MARS HILL, N.C.- The Mars Hill women's tennis team won four singles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over Carson-Newman on Wednesday in South Atlantic Conference action. The Lions improve to 7-8 overall and 5-4 in league play. 

Mars Hill completed doubles play with a 2-1 advantage thanks to wins in the top two matches. Tatiana Dualiby and Lucy McLaurin defeated Stefy Stand and Breanne Tremblay 8-3 in number one doubles. Anna Rickenbaker and Jade Henke earned an 8-6 victory over Patricia Guerreiro and Jennifer Ott. 

Dualiby, the reigning SAC Player of the Week, won her ninth consecutive number one singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Guerreiro. Rickenbaker defeated Stand 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, in the second singles flight, with McLaurin clinching the match victory thanks to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Tremblay in number three singles. Henke was a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 victor over Brooke Sanderson in number four singles. 

Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, hosting Newberry at 2 p.m.
