Women's Track Finishes in Sixth at SAC Championships
Alexis Montgomery was the runner-up in the 200 meter dash; 4 x 100 meter relay team sets new school record
HICKORY, N.C.- The Mars Hill women's track team finished in sixth place at the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
Alexis Montgomery finished in second place in the 200 meter dash (25.89) fourth in the 400 meter dash (57.80) and sixth in the 100 meter dash (12.61). Kendra Henry finished in seventh place in the 400 meter dash (1:01.82). LeeAnn Farr scored a seventh place finish in the shot put (10.65 meters/34 feet, 11.25 inches).
Savannah Hulbert finished in fourth place (2.90 meters/9' 6") in the pole vault, followed by Toccara Jefferies in sixth (2.15 meters/7'). Hulbert also finished in fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles (15.24) and fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:10.78). Faith Trammell finished the 5,000 meter run in fourth place (18:49.15).
The Lions finished in fourth place in the 4 X 100 meter relay (Hulbert, Montgomery, Alauna Reckley, Henry) with a new school record time of 49.15 seconds. Mars Hill finished fifth in the 4 X 400 meter relay (Hulbert, Montgomery, Murphy, Jefferies).
Queens was the team champion, followed by Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne.
Mars Hill returns to action on May 1 at the Appalachian State Invitational.
