Mars Hill competes at Bulldog Invite

The Mars Hill women's outdoor track & field team travelled a short distance down the road to Asheville, North Carolina to compete in the UNCA Bulldog Invite.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's outdoor track & field team travelled a short distance down the road to Asheville, North Carolina to compete in the UNCA Bulldog Invite.

One new school record and several personal bests and season bests were set by many Lions on this sunny high-wind day.

New School Record:

Simone Giggetts crushed the MHU 100m Hurdle record today, a nine-year old record. Giggetts cross the finish line with a time of 14.91s. Giggetts placed 5^th overall in the event.

Personal Bests and Season Bests:

Haley Eddinger established a big personal best in women's Pole Vault. Eddinger cleared three heights above her previous personal best of 2.93m – clearing 3m, 3.10m, and finishing a new personal best of 3.20m. Eddinger placed 2^nd overall in the event.

Lindsey Jenkins established a new personal best in the 800m run with a time of 2:25.54. Jenkins placed 8^th overall.

Hannah Frazer set a new personal best in the 1500m run, finishing in a time of 5:35.5. Frazer placed 23^rd overall.

Sarah McNeil and Brenna Hicks both set personal bests in the 800m run. McNeil finished in a time of 2:48.12. Hicks finished in a time of 2:57.94.

Bailey Beeman set personal bests in Shot Put and Hammer. Beeman placed 12^th overall with Shot Put with a new PB of 9.93m. Beeman placed 21^st in Hammer with a PB of 28.49m.

La'Miya Blake established personal bests in Shot Put and Discus. Blake placed 14^th overall in Shot Put with a PB throw of 9.87m. She placed 20^th overall in Discus with a PB of 23.44m.

Kayla Rice set personal bests in both Shot Put and Discus. Rice placed 22^nd in Shot Put with a PB throw of 7.42m. She placed 19^th overall in Discus with a throw of 24.17m.

Honney Willis established a collegiate best in the 100m sprint. Willis placed 12^th overall with a time of 13.72s.

Maria Orozco set a new personal best in the 100m sprint finishing in a time of 14.18s. Orozco placed 14^th overall.

Ana Baptista established a personal beset in High Jump clearing 1.35m. Baptista placed 14^th overall.

Janette Hanni jumped to a new personal best in Long Jump with a mark of 4.18m.

Next up, the Lions travel to Cullowhee, North Carolina on April 19^th- 20^th to compete in the Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina University.
