Lenoir-Rhyne Sweeps Volleyball

HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team lost 3-0 on Friday night to Lenoir-Rhyne in Shuford Gymnasium. The Lions lost by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-21. Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 19-7 overall and 13-6 in the South Atlantic Conference while Mars Hill drops to 8-17 and 7-11.
Rebecca Butler led the Lion attack with nine kills, followed by Devon Felts with seven and Lauren Hochstetler with six. Butler, Hochstetler, Victoria Kaiser and Mary Kate Griffin each had an ace. Andie Russell handed out 23 assists. Butler also led Mars Hill defensively with 13 digs, with Christen Nicholson contributing 10 digs.
Brooke Redmond had a match-high 11 kills for Lenoir-Rhyne, followed by Haley Rhyne with 10 kills. Briana Gottberg had 33 assists. Morgan Bunker had 14 digs for the Bears, with Redmond completing a double-double with 12 digs.
Mars Hill travels to Brevard tomorrow night for a 7 p.m. match against the Tornados.
