MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions fell in three sets (15-25, 23-25, 13-25) to the South Atlantic Conference leading Wingate Bulldogs Saturday afternoon in Stanford Arena.
Wingate, who remains undefeated at 11-0 (6-0 SAC), was led offensively by Katie Bludau. In the first set, the senior outside hitter had seven kills on eight attempts with no errors. She led all players in the contest with 15 kills and hit .387. Rachel Alles had a game high 38 assists and added 10 digs.
Maddie Spurgeon knocked down a team high seven kills for the Lions. Mars Hill falls to 1-8 (0-6 SAC) on the season.
The Lions will be back in action on Friday, September 29 when they take on Coker at 7 p.m. They then square off against Newberry the following day with a 2 p.m. start time. Both games will be held in Stanford Arena.
