Lions sweep Georgia College, Young Harris to conclude Tony Fontanelle Memorial Volleyball Tournament

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (4-0) swept both Georgia College (3-3) and Young Harris (2-5) Saturday to wrap up the Tony Fontanelle Memorial Volleyball Tournament.

GAME ONE: MHU 3, GC 0

The Lions dominated play versus the Bobcats, hitting .364 as a team.  Sarah Goddard led all players with 19 kills and hit .474 for the contest.  Nikkayla Stewart hit .421, adding nine kills and three blocks.

Jana Cuk narrowly missed breaking a 13-year-old school record for hitting percentage in a game (.800), finishing the match with 15 kills on 19 attempts with a .789 hitting percentage.

Jordan Schmucker led all players with 43 assists while Laela Jimenez led all players with 19 digs.

GAME TWO: MHU 3, YHC 0

Mars Hill completed the sweep on Saturday, winning their 12th straight set and defeating Young Harris.

The Lions hit .247 as a team and forced Young Harris to commit 27 errors, hitting -.048 in the contest.

Grace Lilly led all players with eight kills, hitting .500 in the contest.  Both Sarah Goddard and Jana Cuk each added six.  Jordan Schmucker collected 20 assists and nine digs while Addison Easter added eight digs.

Mars Hill opens South Atlantic Conference play on Tuesday, September 6 when they face Tusculum.  First serve is set for 6 p.m.
