Mars Hill takes down Coker in four
The Mars Hill volleyball team (7-3, 3-2 SAC) defeated Coker (2-9, 0-4 SAC) in four sets (25-19, 25-9, 19-25, 25-22) Friday night on the road.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (7-3, 3-2 SAC) defeated Coker (2-9, 0-4 SAC) in four sets (25-19, 25-9, 19-25, 25-22) Friday night on the road.
After taking the first set 25-19, the Lions dominated the second set, hitting .464. They knocked down 13 kills on 28 attempts with .464.
Coker eeked out the third set despite hitting .150 as a team and despite a late rally in the fourth, the Lions held on to the lead, hitting .180 with another 13 kills in the set.
Mars Hill hit .227 as a team to Coker's .114. Katilyn Grant led the Lions with 11 kills, hitting .500 on the night. Timmons Yates added eight kills on 14 swings with no errors, hitting a match-high .571.
Laela Jimenez racked up a team-high 26 digs while Jordan Schmucker recorded a match-high 35 assists.
Mars Hill returns to the floor on Friday, September 29 when they face Carson-Newman on the road in South Atlantic Conference play. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
