Lions Place Third in Eye Opener
SPARTANBURG, S.C.-- Mars Hill's women's cross country team placed third among Division II teams in the Spartanburg Eye Opener, which was held Friday evening.
SPARTANBURG, S.C.-- Mars Hill's women's cross country team placed third among Division II teams in the Spartanburg Eye Opener, which was held Friday evening.
The Lions totaled 127 points in the event. Jessica Viscusi turned in Mars Hill's top finish, finishing ninth with a time of 20:03.10. Hannah Witt of King (Tenn.) finished in 18:24.79 to take home the individual title. Wingate placed first overall with 28 points, followed by King (Tenn,) with 108. Twelve Division II schools competed in the event.
Faith Trammell finished 21st overall, turning in a time of 20:58.38. Heidi Hooker ran a time of 21:11.49 to finish 27th, while Anje Kidd finished 29th in 21:35.45. Shelby Robinson rounded out Mars Hill's top five with a time of 22:18.87.
Lion runners averaged a time of 21:13.45, third-best among Division II schools.
Mars Hill's next race will come Sep. 14 when they travel to Montreat, N.C. for the Montreat Invitational/SAC Preview Meet.
