Women's Cross Country Finishes in Third at Falcon Classic
Fueled by a third place finish from Jessica Viscusi, the Mars Hill women’s cross country team finished in third place at the Falcon Classic on Saturday morning.
MONTEVALLO, Ala.- Fueled by a third place finish from Jessica Viscusi, the Mars Hill women's cross country team finished in third place at the Falcon Classic on Saturday morning. The Falcon Classic was held on the same course that will host the NCAA Southeast Regional meet on November 22.
Viscusi completed the 6-kilometer distance in 23:15.40. Faith Trammell scored a 10th place finish with a time of 24:06. Kaleigh Jackson earned a 28th place result in 24:47.50, followed by a 31st place result by Megan Smith as she finished in 24:53.30. Anje Kidd finished the race in 25:26.70 for a 46th place result. Shelby Robinson earned a 56th place finish in 25:50.50, with Dawn Radford's 59th place finish in 25:54.40 serving as the final scoring position for the Lions.
Other finishers for the Lions include Savannah Hulbert (25:57.30), Bianca Pereira (27:56.30), Andrea Wolfrey (29:08.80), Carey Shields (29:16.90), Vanessa Viscusi (29:28.80), Danielle Dunn (29:48.90), Madison Durham (30:35. 40), Jessica Scott (31:12.10), Abbey Nichols (31:32.30), Cynthia Griffin (33:15.30) and Jeri Martin (33:51.90).
Montevallo took advantage of their home course as they won the event with a team score of 58 points. Defending South Atlantic Conference champion Wingate was second with 111 points followed by the Lions in third with 118 points.
Mars Hill continues the 2014 campaign next week at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational.
