Athletic Highlights: October 22 – October 29, 2018
Football: The Mars Hill football team had a bye week and will take on UNC Pembroke this Saturday on the road. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
Men's Soccer: The Lions fell to Queens by a score of 3-0 on Saturday. The Lions finished 9th in the South Atlantic Conference and ended the year with a record of 6-7-2, 2-6-2 SAC.
Women's Soccer: Mars Hill went 0-2 this week, falling 3-2 to Newberry and being shutout, 1-0, to Queens on Saturday to conclude the regular season. Leah Hairfield and Natasha Castellano were the goal scorers for the Lions in the Wednesday night game versus Newberry. The Lions finished the year with a 3-12, 2-8 SAC record.
Men's Tennis: The Lions downed Milligan, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon to improve to 5-2 on the year.
Women's Tennis: Mars Hill suffered their first defeat of the season, falling to Converse by a score of 4-3 on Thursday afternoon. The Lions sit at 6-1 on the year.
Women's Golf: The Lions placed fifth at the Converse College Fall Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. Emilee Wenmouth was the top finisher for the Lions, shooting +28 and placing 19th overall.
Volleyball: Mars Hill went 1-2 this past week, falling in straight sets to Wingate on Tuesday and in four sets on Friday versus Lincoln Memorial, but responding with a dominant three set win over Coker. Mars Hill sits sixth in conference with an overall record of 15-11 and 9-9 SAC record.
