Athletic Highlights: November 12 – November 19, 2018
Men's Basketball: The Lions went 2-0 at home with wins over North Greenville and Regent. Austin Gilyard had a game-high 21 points in the win over the Crusaders while Austin Stone paced the Lions' offense with 19 points, defeating the Royals on Saturday. Mars Hill hosts Warren Wilson on Tuesday, November 20th.
Women's Basketball: Mars Hill fell to High Point by a score of 86-36. Alexis Pardue led the Lions with 11 points and Brooke Vilcinskas had a game-high 12 rebounds. The Lions hold their home opener on Tuesday, November 20 versus Warren Wilson.
Men's Swimming: The Mars Hill men's swim team placed sixth at the 2018 Fall Frenzy. On Sunday, Elijah Sears set a school record in the 200 yard breaststroke. The Lions finished with 576 points.
Women's Swimming: Over the three day Fall Frenzy event, the Mars Hill women's swim team set several school records. Kathryn Boland set two individual records in the 200 yard IM and breaststroke races, as well as being a member of the record-setting 400 yard medley relay and 800 yard relay teams. Haley Horton, also a member of the 400 yard medley relay team, set a school record in the 100 yard backstroke. The Lions placed eighth overall with 277 points.
Men's Cross Country: The Mars Hill men's cross country team placed 16th at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Cross Country Championships, run Saturday morning. Nick Resor was the top finisher for the Lions, turning in a time of 34:21.79. He placed 55th overall.
Women's Cross Country: The Mars Hill women's cross country team placed 19th at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Cross Country Championships, run Saturday morning. Nyla Feeney finished 47th overall with a time of 24:25.56. That time was the best by a Lions' runner on the day.
