MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (16-24) was defeated by Winston-Salem State (26-12) by a score of 6-5 Saturday afternoon at Henderson Field in non-conference play.

Entering the ninth inning down 6-0, Mars Hill rallied to score five runs and put the Rams on their heels.  Adam Plouffe opened the scoring with a RBI single that allowed Jordan Lathe to break the shutout bid.  With two runners on later in the frame, a two-run double by Austin Treadway cut the Winston-Salem State lead in half.  Treadway later scored off of an Austin Purser RBI single for Mars Hill's fourth run of the frame.  Paul Martin drove Purser home with a double to right center field.  With two outs in the inning, the Rams were able to force a strikeout and escape with the 6-5 win.

The Rams struck in the first inning as Nick Williams drove Tyler Daniels home with a RBI double down the left field line.  In the top of the fifth, Nick Tiller's two-run home run extended the Winston-Salem State lead to three runs.
