Mars Hill wins shootout over Bluefield State
The Mars Hill baseball team (17-24) downed Bluefield State (12-19) in an offensive showcase Tuesday afternoon on the road in non-conference play.

BLUEFIELD, W. Va. - The Mars Hill baseball team (17-24) downed Bluefield State (12-19) in an offensive showcase Tuesday afternoon on the road in non-conference play.
Trailing 12-8 heading into the eighth inning, the Lions offense exploded for eight runs in the frame to take a three-run lead. Both teams traded four runs apiece in the ninth inning with Mars Hill holding off the home squad for the win.
Mars Hill took a 6-2 lead into the fourth before Bluefield State reeled off nine runs over the next three frames to go up 11-6 before entering the seventh inning.
JR McRee scored five runs and added four hits for the Big Blues. Tanner Brandon also had four hits for Bluefield State. Devin Mangum had a team-high four RBI and four runs scored. Paul Martin added three hits for the Lions and scored five runs.

Mars Hill returns to South Atlantic Conference action on Friday, April 19th when they take to the road to face Anderson. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
