Football’s Randolph Named Preseason All-American
MARS HILL, N.C. - Mars Hill running back Jonas Randolph has been selected to the 2010 D2Football.com Preseason All-America First Team Offense. The Daleville, Ala., native returns for his junior season on the gridiron after a record-breaking season in 2009.
Randolph was named South Atlantic Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year last season. He led the league in rushing yards (1,804), all-purpose yards (1,879) and touchdowns (19).
Randolph rewrote the Mars Hill and South Atlantic Conference record books in 2009. He broke seven school records, one SAC record and twice tied one school record. He set the school records for most single-season rushing yards, single-season rushing touchdowns (19), single-season all-purpose touchdowns (19), rushing attempts in a single season (312), rushing attempts in a single game (44 rushes vs. Catawba), most points scored in a single game (24 twice: vs. Newberry and Tusculum), and most points scored in a single season (114). Randolph set the South Atlantic Conference record for highest per game average rushing (180.4).
He also twice tied the school record for most rushing touchdowns in a single game (four vs. Newberry and Tusculum).
For his efforts, Randolph was selected to four all-america teams by Don Hansen's Football Gazette, D2Football.com, Daktronics and the American Football Coaches Association.
Mars Hill will open the 2010 campaign on Saturday against North Greenville. Kickoff from Meares Stadium is set for 1:30 p.m.
