Football ranked fourth in Super Region Two
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill football team is ranked fourth in Super Region Two in the first installment of the NCAA Regional Rankings, which were released today. The Lions (6-2) are 6-1 against Super Region Two competition.
The Regional Rankings, as voted on by the NCAA Division II
Football Committee, are the official poll used in the Division II
Football Championship's selection process.
Mars Hill is led by All-America candidate Jonas Randolph, who leads
the SAC by averaging 170.6 rushing yards per game. The Lions
are second in the conference in scoring offense and fourth in the
league in scoring defense.
Delta State tops the regional standings. North Alabama and Valdosta State are second and third, respectively. North Greenville, Albany State, West Alabama, Morehouse, Stillman and Lenoir-Rhyne round out the top 10. Mars Hill defeated North Greenville earlier this season but lost to Lenoir-Rhyne last Saturday.
The regional rankings will continue to be released weekly until the NCAA Division II Selection Show on Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. The top six teams in the final regional poll will advance to the Division II playoffs to compete for the national championship.
