RICHMOND, VA.-- Former Mars Hill receiver Josh Young has signed a contract with the Richmond Raiders of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL), the team announced Thursday.
Young caught 96 passes for 1,421 yards and 10 touchdowns in his Mars Hill career, which spanned from 2009-12. His best campaign came in 2011, when he had 47 receptions for 653 yards and five touchdowns to help the Lions win the South Atlantic Conference Championship. He notched three touchdowns during his senior campaign in 2012.
Young "is a very talented and speedy wide receiver who has the ability to run by the defense, but also has very good route-running ability," stated Raiders head coach James Fuller in a press release.
"We hope that he can give us that spark and speed we need to stretch the field. I can see big things for him this season."
The 2014 season will mark the Raiders' fifth season of professional indoor football in the Richmond Coliseum, and third in the PIFL. The team has reached the league's championship in each of the last two seasons.
