ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf SAC Football Players of the Week for games played the eighth week of the season. Mars Hill running back Malik Prescott was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week, while Wingate defensive lineman Ray Edwards was named the Defensive Player of the Week. Meanwhile, Newberry punter and return man Cole Watson picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Prescott, a freshman from Screven, Ga., rushed for a career-best 244 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Lions to a 49-0 win over Lenoir-Rhyne on Oct. 22. He carried the ball 24 times to average 10.2 yards per carry, including a long run of 74 yards. The award marks his first Offensive Player of the Week selection this season.
