Caruso, Hartzog Tied for Sixth at Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate
Junior Nick Caruso shot a career-best 70 in the opening round of the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate held at the par 72, 6797-yard Dan Maples Golf Course at Sea Trail Resort. As a team, the Lions are in a three-way tie for third place.

Charles Hartzog continued his strong fall with a two-under 70, putting him in a four-player tie along with Caruso for sixth place. Hartzog has either finished at or below par in each of his last four rounds. Adam Lumley shot a two-over-par 74 to finish in a tie for 36th. Antonio Douat finished with a three-over-par 75, while Nick Quesnel wrapped up the opening round with a seven-over-par 79.
Wingate's Benedict Gebhardt leads with a four-under-par 68, one stroke ahead of a four-way tie for second place. North Greenville leads the team standings with a team score of 284, four shots ahead of second place Queens University and five ahead of Mars Hill, Mount Olive and Southern Wesleyan.
The two-day tournament will conclude tomorrow.
