Lions in 14th After Opening Round of Newberry Invitational

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.- The Mars Hill men's golf team sits in 14th place after a windy first round at the Newberry Invitational held at The Ocean Course. The second round was suspended at 5:50 p.m., with play resuming at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday
Chevy Hartzog is tied for 15th after an opening round 78 to lead the Lions. In his debut round, freshman Filip Andersson shot an 83, putting him in a tie for 50th. Antonio Douat fired an 84, followed by Adam Lumley with an 85 and Levi Grogan with an 86. Mars Hill tallied a team score of 330.
Valdosta State's Chris Rogers leads after a two-under-par 70. Georgia Southwestern leads with a team score of 297, but the field is tightly bunched as the Lions are only 15 strokes outside of the top five.
The third round is scheduled to begin immediately following the conclusion of the second round.
