Three Lions Receive SAC Honors
Filip Andersson named Freshman of the Year, Chevy Hartzog and Adam Lumley earn All-SAC honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. - A trio of Mars Hill men's golfers earned South Atlantic Conference men's golf honors highlighted by Freshman of the Year Filip Andersson. Chevy Hartzog earned All-SAC First Team honors with Adam Lumley earning All-SAC Second Team honors.
Andersson, from Uppsala, Sweden, posted a pair of top 10 finishes on the year and finished the regular-season with an adjusted scoring average of 74.81. His best finish of the season came at the Hargett Memorial Invitational as he turned in scores of 73, 72 and 73 to finish third overall at two over par. Andersson also fired a season-best 69 in the second round of the Tusculum Invitational.
Hartzog leads the Lions with a 73.33 adjusted scoring average. He was the winner of the Echo Farms Intercollegiate and finished in the top five at the Etowah Intercollegiate (t-5th), Tusculum Fall Classic (t-3rd) and Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate (3rd). His 67 in the second round of the Tusculum Fall Classic is the lowest by any MHU golfer this season.
Lumley, the 2014 SAC Freshman of the Year, enters the final tournament of the season with a 74.40 scoring average. His best finish of the season came at the Echo Farms Intercollegiate where he tied for second place.
Mars Hill begins the 2015 SAC Championship at Firethorn Country Club on Sunday morning.
