Men's Golf In Second After Day One of the Etowah Intercollegiate
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men’s golf team sits in second place overall after an impressive day one of the 2016 Etowah Intercollegiate at the Etowah Country Club.
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's golf team sits in second place overall after an impressive day one of the 2016 Etowah Intercollegiate at the Etowah Country Club. Three of the five Lions golfers currently rank in the top 10, led by Adam Lumley's four-under, 68.
Lumley is atop the leaderboard after finishing the day one stroke ahead of Brevard's Luis Vega and Tusuculum's Cameron Dugger. He led the field with six birdies on the afternoon.
Three strokes behind Lumley, sitting in a tie for sixth is Harry Butler. Butler equaled Lumley's performance with six birdies, while cashing in a one-under, 71.
In a tie for eighth place at even-par is Dalton Thompson. Thompson completed his first 18 with three birdies and was tied for third with 12 pars on the day.
Callum Ritchie and Francesc Llinas rounded out the golfers for the Lions with a 78 and 81, respectively. Mars Hill, as a team, shot a first round score of 289 (+1), which is second only to conference rival, Tusculum, who completed its round with a 285 (-3).
The Lions will look to continue their good play as they take to the links tomorrow morning for the second and final day of the challenge.
