Lumley Wins Walters State Fall Classic: Lions Finsih Second
MORRISTOWN, TENN. – The Mars Hill men’s golf team finished the Walters State Fall Classic in second place on Tuesday, October 18, after firing a final round of 305 (+17).

MORRISTOWN, TENN. – The Mars Hill men's golf team finished the Walters State Fall Classic in second place on Tuesday, October 18, after firing a final round of 305 (+17). Host, Walters State, edged the Lions by a single stroke in the overall standings following the concluding day of the tournament.
Mars Hill was able to pick up four strokes from yesterday's total, but came up just short of winning the team title. However, Adam Lumley shot a final round of even-par to capture the individual championship. Lumley's two-day total of 145 (+1) was two strokes better than second-place finisher Derek Mubarak of WSCC.
Harry Butler jumped four spots during the concluding round, firing a 76 (+4) to finish in seventh place overall. Teammate Dalton Thompson joined Butler and Lumley in the top-10 after moving up three spots on the afternoon. Thompson chipped in a 77 (+5) to tally his highest finish of the young season.
Stephen Thomasson finished in 19th with a total score of 162 (+18), while Callum Ritchie was the biggest mover for the Lions, jumping five spots to bring home a tie for 22nd place.
This concludes the fall portion of the schedule for Lions as they will return to action on February 19-20, 2017 in the Newberry College Kiawah Island Spring Tournament at the beautiful Ocean Course.
