Lions In Fifth After Day One of Newberry Invitational
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Mars Hill men’s golf team currently sits in fifth place overall following the first round of the Newberry College Invitational on Monday, February 20, at the beautiful Ocean Course.
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Mars Hill men's golf team currently sits in fifth place overall following the first round of the Newberry College Invitational on Monday, February 20, at the beautiful Ocean Course. The Lions fired an opening round 298 (+10), sitting just six strokes behind first place Missouri-St. Louis.
Adam Lumley picked up where he left off in the fall portion of the schedule, recording a team-low 68 (-4), which is good enough for second place overall. Lumley led the field in total birdies (6) and average score for par 4s (3.60). Harry Butler turned in a solid round of 75 (+3), good enough for a tie for 20th, while Stephen Thomasson finished just two strokes behind Butler and is currently in 35th position.
The Lions will return to the links with an 8:30 start time for the final round of the inviatational.
NOTES: Play was suspended due to darkness and the second round will be resumed tomorrow morning followed by the third and final round.
