Lumley Named 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Golfer of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Mars Hill’s Adam Lumley was voted the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Year, while Tom Forster from Carson-Newman was named the Conference’s Freshman of the Year.

(TheSAC.com) – Mars Hill's Adam Lumley was voted the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Golfer of the Year, while Tom Forster from Carson-Newman was named the Conference's Freshman of the Year. In addition, Lincoln Memorial mentor Travis Muncy was tabbed the Coach of the Year, the League announced today.
Lumley, a senior from Coventry, United Kingdom, turned in the League's lowest Golfstat adjusted scoring average this season as he posted 71.78 strokes per round. Lumley, currently ranked No. 2 in the Southeast Region, recorded three tournament wins on the year and finished in the Top 10 in every event he played this season. He has fired par or under in five of his eight tournaments on the year, including five rounds in the 60's. His best round of the season came at the Tusculum Invitational on March 25 as he carded a 67 in the second round of the event.
Forster, from Oundle, England, notched the League's lowest freshman Golfstat adjusted scoring average during the 2017 season with 72.72 strokes per outing. He highlighted his year with a second-place finish at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate as he fired a 9-under 207. In the second round of the event, Forster tied for the third-lowest round in the South Atlantic Conference this season with a 6-under 66. Forster finished in the Top 10 in three events this season and posted Top 25 finishes in seven events. He also finished under par in three tournaments this season.
Muncy wins his second career Coach of the Year nod after guiding his squad to four first-place finishes during the 2017 season. The Railsplitters finished in the Top 10 in all 13 events they played this season. During the second round of the State Farm Intercollegiate on Oct. 11, Lincoln Memorial turned in the fourth-lowest round in the South Atlantic Conference this season with an 11-under 277. The Railsplitters are currently ranked No. 18 in Division II by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Lumley and Forster also earned first team All-South Atlantic Conference honors for their performances this season. Joining the duo on the first team where Spencer Skiff of Newberry with a Golfstat adjusted scoring average of 71.99, John Carter McFadyen who posted an adjusted scoring average of 72.03 and Sam Broadhurst with a scoring average of 72.05.
The 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship is slated for Sunday, April 23 through Tuesday, April 25. Tee times will begin at 8:30am on all three days and will be contested at the Salisbury Country Club in Salisbury, N.C.
