Mars Hill wraps up day one of Newberry College Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's golf team currently sits in 17th place after the first day of the Newberry College Classic.
The Lions shot +317 in the opening round, finding themselves in 18th place. Nicholas Boone shot an opening round 77, the best of all Mars Hill participants. Harry Butler finished one stroke behind with a round of 78.
Butler jumped ahead of Boone in the second round, shooting -2 to sit in 34th overall, the highest placing Lion after the second round. Boone is tied for 66th with an overall score of +9 in the tournament.
Callum Ritchie had a five shot improvement in round two and found himself tied for 81st with a +13 score. Luke Challis and Stephen Thomasson are tied for 89th with scores of +17 at the end of Monday's rounds.
Several golfers were unable to finish round two due to darkness and will finish the round Tuesday morning. Round three will begin 30 minutes later than previously scheduled.
